Word up.

Jun. 11, 2010

As you may or may not know, with the help of our (much prettier) cohorts at colab and Schipulite Katie Laird we’ve managed to get WordPress founder and creator, Matt Mullenweg to Houston for our city’s first-ever WordCamp. The Houston Museum of Natural Science is the coolest location ever (keynote in the IMAX theater!) and will be hosting the day-long camp. We hope you can attend.

Here at PG, we pride ourselves on our love of Wordpress and build probably no less than 98% of our sites on the platform for its stability, ease of use, multi-user capabilities and structure. Hope we get to see some new faces and learn about WP all at the same time.

Check out the speakers and get your tickets soon. And when you do, we have these snazzy badges courtesy of our friends over at Schipul!

WCH-Attendee Copy/paste for the attendee badge: <a href=”http://wordcamphouston.com/”><img style=”margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;” title=”WCH-Attendee” src=”http://www.startwithgrey.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/WCH-Attendee.jpg” alt=”WCH-Attendee” width=”150″ height=”200″ /></a>

Eat, Drink and make others merry.

Apr. 23, 2010

Back as hosts for our 3rd year, PG and Colab (Cosmopolitician) will be participating with our friends (and client) at Azur Salon in the 20th Annual Dining Out for Life next Thursday, April 29th.

You eat. Restaurants Donate. Win win.

On Thursday, April 29, 2010, restaurants across Houston will unite in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Each restaurant will generously donate 33% of food bills all day long. In 2009 with the help of great Houston restaurants, AIDS Foundation Houston (AFH) raised over $70,000 in support for their programs and services such as housing, case management, and food assistance for nearly 5,000 HIV+ men, women, and children.

For the 2nd year in a row, we’ll be hosting at Monica Pope’s T’afia in Midtown. We’re super excited to be back at this Top Chef Masters’ home in Houston!

Monica and I will be posted up at t’afia on Thursday night from 6-10pm. Please stop in for a drink, a meal, or dessert and help us support this great cause.

Hey, ya gotta eat, right? Make it count this night.

Reservations are recommended. 713-524-6922.

And even if you don’t eat at T’afia, try and hit up one of the other participating restaurants.

You came, you partied.

Apr. 1, 2010

It’s confirmed. We have added some talent to the Block Party.

Young $quaddy and DJ Good Grief are confirmed on the bill for the Block Party.

You may know these guys from such monthly parties Don’t Fight It! or Commotion.

They will be curating requests via Twitter. Just add #pgco to your tweets and see if your request makes the cut.

Dig deep folks. This ain’t your average party.

Hi,

We are a local full-service marketing agency looking for a PHP developer. We enjoy the finer things in life, but are currently so overloaded with work that we haven’t had time lately to enjoy the aforementioned finer things. This is where you come in with your magical PHP skills, then you too can enjoy the finer things with us.

In all seriousness though, we are a fairly new marketing agency that is constantly growing. Our current developer is booked full (and then some) with work so he’d love it if you’d join us.

The position would start out as a full-time contract position with a good possibility of turning into full-time employment within a few months, no promises though.

If building custom eCommerce solutions, system integration, modifying content management systems beyond belief, and algorithms make you excited keep on reading.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of PHP/MySQL experience
  • Expert knowledge of XHTML & CSS
  • Knowledge of WordPress and other CMS systems
  • UNIX/LINUX Command Line Interface experience preferred
  • Experience with having good times
  • Knowledge of various JavaScript methods/techniques
  • Adobe Photoshop experience preferred
